In the city of Newton, nano-mechanical wetware allows humans to mentally link with computers. A popular invention is the Trance, a VR version of the wetware technology. Some humans are even "gengineered" from birth.
Newton is coordinated by an Ai system called Central, which aids in predictive policing and other matters. Recently, the city has seen several murders where the victim's brain is destructively removed.
