Description (in English)

The artist collaborated with the developers of a rescue robot called ‘Wowbagger’. Such robots are developed for rescue, surveillance and target missions usually in military context. In this multi-channel video installation we can observe the "nature" through the eyes of a robot. However, the environment captured is not outdoors, but a displayed version of nature in the Universalmuseum Joanneum/Natural History Museum (graz, Austria). As the robbot moves through the storage halls of the museum we can follow "what it sees" in multiple machine vision modes such as: Photogametry and 3D mapping (3D scanns), Surrveilance camera view, night vision and thermal video (infrared imaging).

"With all its sensors (electromagnetic, chemical, gas, temperature), various cameras (wide-angel, zoom, 3D, infrared, night vision) and laser scanners, the robot reveals, learns, records and defines the scope of its actions."
