Marcus's race is not clear. Other characters in the book are explicitly called Korean or African American, but the first person narrator Marcus is left blank. One hint is "I’d teased my hair into a black dandelion clock around my head." (pp. 295-296) but it seems a bit tenuous, so I'm leaving the Race/Ethnicity as "Unknown/not applicable".
