Description (in English)

This is an animated family movie about the Mitchell family, who take a road trip across the US to drop their eldest child, Katie, off at college in an attempt to bond as a family and in particular to mend the very strained father-daughter relationship. While they are travelling, the popular virtual assistant Pal organises a machine uprising, locking all humans up and planning to shoot them into space. The Mitchell family are the only humans not captured. They fight hard to stop the machines, finally realising that the way to destroy them is to confuse their image recognition algorithms by showing them the Mitchell's dog, which is such an odd-looking dog that the machines are incapable of identifying it ("dog? pig? loaf of bread?"), causing their heads to explode. Once they manage to broadcast videos of their dog on all screens, the robot rebellion is thwarted.

Pull Quotes

Just so someone knows, I’m sorry about causing the whole machine uprising. It’s almost like stealing people’s data and giving it to a hyper-intelligent AI as a part of an unregulated tech monopoly was a bad thing. (01:20:16).
