Brief description
In S02E02 Lyra is visiting astrophysicist Mary Malone in order to learn what "Dust" is. Mary Malone brings her into research lab, where she has a big electrical transmitter or something behind a glas, monitored via computer screens. Mary connects Lyra to the machine via attached pads to her side of her head. In this instant Lyra is able to speak to the dust/the shadow (like she does with her famous alethiometer) and the dust manifests itself as images on the computer screen while they are communicating
